Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have been collaborating for some time now. Apparently speed junkies that enjoy speed on the tarmac and in the sky also enjoy going really, really fast on the water. Who can blame them? For all intents and purposes the 50′ projectile that lightly taps the surface as it skids along at insanely fast speeds is basically an ultra-fast convertible. With the exception of course that it has no wheels and off with them come the speed limits one typically encounters every now and then on public roads.
So in essence, you trade concrete for a license to go as fast as you’d like, or are willing to go. In this latest rendition Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing used the AMG GT-R as inspiration and stuck with the model’s exclusive color scheme: “AMG Green Hell Magno”. The cockpit and seats are very AMG-like having been designed by the AMG Performance Studio and are reminiscent of current road-going offerings. Stuffed under the engine compartment you’ll find two, 1,550 horsepower engines bringing more than 3,100 combined horsepower. These will for the most part mush a smile on your face either willingly or unwillingly at the demand of 140 mile-per-hour winds. In any case, you don’t get a choice. Photos via Mercedes-Benz USA.
