Alcantara… something we’re used to seeing inside high-end sports cars and luxury cars. What has long been paired with exotic leathers used on the bucket seats of Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s and Porsche’s now wraps itself around your ears. Alcantara made its way from your rear end to your head, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. At least not this time. Alcantara is an interesting choice of material for a headphone but, it works. And quite well while we’re at it. For the most part a synthetic leather made from polyester and polyurethane that feels like suede, Alcantara is vegan and eco-friendly and feels like a million bucks. We haven’t yet had the opportunity to feel what all the fuzz is about, but having rubbed our posterior cheeks on the stuff in other applications, we’re down for it. Plus, the MH40’s look like an ultra-dope steampunk contraption that straps to your head and makes you look like a badass while delivering glorious noises to your ear drums. Seems like a win-win situation to us. Photos via Master & Dynamic.
