The Oris Chronoris Date, a watch rooted in racing history. The original Chronoris from the 70’s was the brand’s first chronograph timepiece. The new model however, is not. Instead Oris has decided to offer an inner rotating bezel with a sixty minute track that’s controlled by a secondary crown. Something very similar to the function performed by an external divers bezel. At 39mm for the dial the watch is on the more conservative side as far as sport watches are concerned. The dial design is very much retro-inspired in keeping with the lineage and is only available in one colorway incorporating black, orange, grey, and a date window. The Chronoris is however available in your choice of four different strap options and a metal bracelet. Our preferred combinations are the brown or black perforated leather straps or the medium gray NATO strap. The dial hands and markers are ultra-legible. A high level of contrast is offered by bold hands and white markers on a black inner ring. Orange tips accent the white markers.. The date marker is also a very legible affair. Ultimately the product on offer turns out to be a very well designed, retro-inspired timepiece that successfully pays homage to it’s older brother. What else can we say?
